Uptown Metamorphosis Art Book
Uptown Metamorphosis: A Photogenic Exploration is a limited-edition art book that documents transformation, memory, and Black life in Milwaukee through the lens of emerging photographer Samuel Allen. Curated by THE CR8TV HOUSE, this publication serves as the culminating artifact of the inaugural Sankofa Artist-in-Residence—marking a moment of artistic emergence, archival care, and place-based storytelling.
Rooted in Milwaukee, Allen’s exhibition Uptown Metamorphosis, drew from his family archive to reframe how Black people see themselves across time—past, present, and future. His images center dignity, presence, and becoming, capturing both the quiet and sweeping shifts that shape neighborhoods, families, and identity. These photographs resist erasure and instead honor Black life as layered, sacred, and continually unfolding.
Uptown Metamorphosis is produced through a limited, made-to-order printing process to ensure care, quality, and sustainability. After the sales window closes, THE CR8TV HOUSE will place a single mass print order. Please allow up to three (3) weeks for the books to be printed and delivered to our team.
Once the books arrive:
-
Buyers will receive an email with scheduled pickup times at THE CR8TV HOUSE
or -
The option to have their book mailed directly (shipping details will be confirmed at that time)
We appreciate your patience as we steward this process with intention. This timeline allows us to honor the artist, maintain production quality, and ensure each book reaches its new home with care.
Thank you for supporting independent artists, archival work, and Black cultural preservation.
